With Aatrox finally officially released I think we've all managed to figure
out why melee carries need to suck so hard: Everyone thinks they're OP if
they're good. 

 

-The things Riot has to do to make melee carries good...-

This is what a lot of it comes down to. Simply, the things that Riot has to
do in order to get melee carries to be competitive picks. Aatrox isn't even
good, he's average at BEST and likely subpar. However just the things Riot
had to do to make him even somewhat playable pisses everyone off. He needed
a gap closer, some way to keep people in range, harder scaling than ranged
carries, and a survivability tool. Now while Aatrox's survivability tool
is... odd (225 seconds CD! Wooo!) just the fact he has it annoys many
people.
