*Professor Eobard "Zoom" Thawne*, otherwise known as the *Reverse-Flash*,
is a fictional supervillain appearing in comic books published by DC
Comics. Created by John Broome and Carmine Infantino, he first appeared in
/The Flash/ (vol. 1) #139 in September 1963. He is the archenemy of Barry
Allen (the second superhero known as the Flash), a descendant of Malcolm
Thawne, and a maternal forefather of both Bart Allen and Owen Mercer. In
2009, the character was re-imagined as a major villain in the DC Universe
by writer Geoff Johns in /The Flash: Rebirth/.^[1]

Professor Zoom was ranked as IGN's 31st greatest comic book villain of all
time in 2009,^[2] and #2 on their Top 5 Flash Villains list in 2015.^[3]C.
